FAQ

Your questions answered

General

Can I take part in both in-centre and home studies?

Yes. When you complete your initial profile questionnaire you can select both. If you choose in-centre studies, make sure you can come to our Barcelona centre during office hours.

Is it safe to take part?

Yes. All activities follow the highest ethical and quality standards to ensure participants’ safety and wellbeing.

  • All products comply with current cosmetics regulations and have passed prior quality controls.
  • Tests are supervised by technical staff and dermatologists or specialised professionals.
  • Every study follows strict protocols so products are used in a safe, controlled way.
  • You are supervised throughout and any incident is handled immediately.
  • Before taking part you will receive full information on the study, its procedures and possible risks, and sign an informed consent form.
Do I need a medical visit with the dermatologists to sign up?

Only if you want to take part in sun studies. A qualified professional must check that you meet the dermatological criteria. The visit is done once.

For all other studies it is not needed: you can receive invitations by email as soon as you complete your registration.

How do I book an in-centre study?

When a study matches your profile you will receive an email with all the details. If you are interested, apply and choose the time that suits you. If you are assigned a slot, you will receive a confirmation email.

If you see “no slots available”, all places for that study have been filled.

What if I cannot attend my visit?

Let us know as early as possible by WhatsApp or email. If there are free slots we will try to reschedule; otherwise your participation in that study will be cancelled.

What if I do not finish a study?

If you do not finish a study, because you cannot attend the agreed visits or have not followed the protocol correctly, you will not receive compensation for that study.

Can I take part in two studies at the same time?

Not when both involve the same body area or when taking part in both could interfere with either, whether at our centre or elsewhere. This is stated in the exclusion criteria of each study.

Payments

How is compensation paid?

By bank transfer.

Do I need to add my bank account to my profile?

Not when you sign up. You only need to add it when you take part in a study. Check that all details are correct, including the SWIFT/BIC code, otherwise we cannot make the payment.

When are payments made?

Once the study has been completed correctly and protocol compliance verified. Usually in the week after the study ends; depending on the study it may vary, but never more than one month.

Once issued, a transfer can take up to 48 working hours to arrive.

Home studies

How do I sign up for a home study?

When a study matches your profile you will receive an email with all the details. If you are interested, sign up through the link provided and follow the instructions.

How do the samples reach me?

They are sent to the address in your profile, so make sure it is correct. When they ship you will get an email and WhatsApp notice with the tracking number and courier.

If the parcel has not arrived within 48 h, contact the courier directly. Each study has a deadline stated in the instructions, so make sure you receive the samples in time.

Sun studies

Why can I not take part in sun studies?

They require certain medical and dermatological characteristics. The main criteria include:

  • Fair skin tone
  • Even skin on the back (no marks, scars, extensive tattoos…)
  • Aged 18 to 70

These and other criteria are checked in the sign-up form and during the medical visit.

What is the difference between the sun studies?

Short studies: a recent method that assesses a product’s protection on the back in just 1 hour. No redness, pigmentation or discomfort.

Long studies: two consecutive days on a small area of the back to determine SPF. After the first day mild redness may appear, similar to sun exposure, which fades progressively. Compensation is higher, usually between €60 and €90 depending on the study.

Are sun studies dangerous?

No. They follow a standardised, controlled procedure. UV exposure is localised to a small area of the back, with doses calculated for your skin type.

In long studies temporary redness may appear in the test area, which is needed to determine the level of protection. You will be fully informed beforehand and your skin type will be checked.

If I join short sun studies, do I have to do long ones?

No. Each study is completely independent. Every invitation states the type of study and you decide freely whether to join.
